'Whispering Bolter' is the expression used by aircrew on board one of

Her Majesty's aircraft carriers when their aircraft misses the arrester wires

(a Bolter) with a low power setting (Whispering).  As the engines take a

while to spool up, it has been known for the aircraft to roll down the deck

and into the sea...

This is my first novel, and I'm told it's a 'good read'.
